Coventry City forward Roy O'Donovan has said that he has goals in him and is after a new contract.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, O'Donovan, who is City U21's leading scorer said: “Obviously the more you play the more chances you get to score goals, and a run of games is something I have never really had here at Coventry.
“Last year I started five or six league games and they are the only league games I have started, and then just when I thought I was getting going I broke my foot so I have been a bit unlucky at times.
“When I have started games in the past I haven’t always played as a striker; I’ve played out wide or behind the striker but I’d do anything for the team and once we get positive results, which I think we will from here on in, I’ll be happy.
"I feel good and fair dos to the manager, he knows I am working hard and has given me the chance, so I don’t want to let him down now.
“I think he appreciates my hard work and the least I will give is 100 per cent and I have always said that. And on top of that you want to add goals and assists, and the more games I play that will happen.
“You have to make an impact when you get a chance, especially if you are a striker, and it doesn’t help because people will always remember if you play and you’re on a losing team. But you know, I believe in my own ability. I know I haven’t played enough and that’s the bottom line of it all, but I know I have got goals in me.
“I have done it before in my career, especially at this level. I’m champing at the bit and I’m one of the more experienced lads in the dressing room, although you wouldn’t know it from the amount of appearances I’ve had for Coventry, but I am looking forward. I try to look at the positive side of life and hopefully we can turn things round at Hartlepool on Saturday.
“I’m in my last year of my contract so the pressure is on. But wouldn’t it be a story if I got in the team and earned a new contract after all that’s gone on. It really would be Roy of the Rovers stuff!”
