Coventry City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has admitted that he has not been as consistent as he should have been this season.
Speaking to the Sunday Mercury, The Icelander said about the slump which has seen City drop back down to 17th: “You can’t point out one thing but it’s nothing to do with formations and you can’t blame the gaffer. We know how he wants us to play – we’ve been through every formation in training and we’re professional footballers so we should be ready for however he wants us to play in any game.
“You can’t blame anyone else if you’re not playing good enough football, so you have to look at yourself in the mirror. “If you don’t want it enough you lose – that’s how simple it is.”
“I’ve not been as consistent as I should be,” said Gunnarsson speaking about his own form. “I’ve played very well in some games but not in others.
“I’ve got one year left here and I haven’t seen anything about a new contract but I’m not thinking about it like I perhaps was at the start of this season. “I’m just concentrating on football, getting myself back to where I was.”
