Former Coventry City youngster Ivor Lawton played on trial for Port Vale Reserve this afternoon.

Lawton, who came through the Sky Blues ranks but only made one substitute appearance for City in a JPT tie at Yeovil Town, is a free agent after his contract with the Sky Blues finished in January.

The midfielder, known for his passion and tough tackling, played the whole game as Port Vale Reserves lost 2-0 to Bradford City.

Port Vale coach Mick Ede said to the Stoke Sentinel: "As we have put in the press, we are keen on possibly bringing in free agents. Ivor was a free agent that we have had mentioned to us so we thought we would have a look."
