Jack Boxley RIP

Former Coventry City outside left Jack Boxley has died aged 84.

Boxley, born in Cradley Heath made 92 appearances for Coventry City between 1956 and 1960, scoring seventeen goals.

In two spells, Boxley played over two hundred times for Bristol City who are running the following interview with Boxley's daughter Lisa Bardens, who spoke about her father suffering from dementia. 

“He’s been so ill this last week that I wouldn’t wish him back the way he was,” Lisa told bcfc.co.uk. “As hard as it is, this was the best thing for him.
 
“He’s been suffering from dementia and last weekend he had a couple of strokes, which was obviously the cause of death in the end.
 
“Dad loved Bristol and once he got married and had children, that was his home for life.
 
“He loved his football days and his football mates. He was always interested in City, always wanting to know the scores.
 
“I know he’s my dad so he’s always going to be wonderful in my eyes, but he lived for his family and he loved his family. I’ve got three boys and he absolutely adored them.
 
“He was a real family man. He loved my mum dearly, he had a fabulous life and he lived life to the full.”
