Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has said that defender James McPake is a great to the club.

The likeable Scot, has been dogged by injuries since joining from Livingston, but came on for Chris Hussey on Saturday and had a fine game against Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player about McPake, who is contracted at the club until June 2013, Thorn said: "If he plays tomorrow night, I think he will be able to cope with the two games in a short space of time. It is the type of game he likes, physical and tough, so we will assess it and see how he feels but he been fantastic.

"He is the type of defender I like who will give everything for the team and we need those players in the side as the season goes on.

"He had his contract up at the end of last season and he broke his back trying to get back for the football club. It was tough for him but he threw himself in for the club.

"He got another deal because I felt it was only right if someone puts that much effort into the club, then it is only right we give him a chance to come back. We did to keep clean sheets and he is the sort of defender who will help us do that.

"He did well on Saturday and he is a leader, influential to the others. So we know it is up to us and him to keep injury free now."
