The Coventry City Former Players Association is pleased to reveal that Julian Joachim will be CCFPA’s special guest at the Sky Blues’ important home clash with Crystal Palace tonight (06th March 2012).
This will be the first time Julian has come to the Ricoh in this capacity. Also expected in the Legends Lounge on Tuesday night will be Dave Bennett, Dietmar Bruck, Paul Culpin, Ron Farmer, Ian Goodwin, Micky Gynn, Lol Harvey, Peter Hormantschuck, Claus Bech Jorgensen, Brian Nicholas, Ken Satchwell, Gordon Simms, Kirk Stephens, Bill Tedds, Bob Wesson and Peter Wyer.
Julian will be remembered as a zippy winger who after making well over 100 appearances, over 4 years from 1992, for Leicester City and making a big impact at Aston Villa from February 1996 (174 appearancess-45 goals) came to the Sky Blues in the summer of 2001 from the Villa in a big value exchange for Moustaffa Hadji. Julian had a creditable scoring record with us (14 goals in 61 first team appearances). However, three years later in July 2004 Julian was transferred to Leeds United and had further experience with Walsall (on loan) and Boston United before finishing his Football League career at Darlington from 2006 where he made over 80 appearances. He moved down a gear with Kings Lynn from 2008.
Look out for Julian around the corporate lounges at the Ricoh before and during the game. We hope he will also be available for a half-time welcome from the half-time crowd, be heard at interview by our local media and will also take on m/c and Association vice Chairman Billy Bell on the stage at Lady Gs beneath the Arena after the game where we are sure Billy will coax out of him some informative views on the match and on Julian’s playing career in Coventry.
