John Fleck Signs For Sheffield United

As expected, John Fleck has completed a move to Sheffield United.

The Scot who had four seasons with the Sky Blues turned down what City offered and has joined The Blades on a three year deal.

Sheffield United boss said about Fleck to his club's website: "John is an outstanding midfield player in League One and we believe he can play at a higher level.

"He is another to have contract options and we are delighted to get him to Bramall Lane as he is athletic, hungry, a great age and fits the structure of the players we want to represent the club."

City boss Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “It’s not a disappointment for me, probably for John it is.

“We had conversations with John during the season. He knew how much we would like to keep him but he wanted to try himself in the league above and take the earnings that come with that.

“Ultimately that hasn’t happened for him and he’s gone to a club in this league with greater resources and have got a new manager who’s bringing in his own players.

“He knows John, knows that he was one of the best players in this league last season, and if they’ve got the resources to tempt him that’s what’s happened.

“We look forward to the challenge of playing John Fleck next season.”
