Stern John has pleaded with the fans to stick with him after his substitution at Wigan brought the biggest cheer of the day.
The Trinidad & Tobago international who again had difficulty staying on his feet told the CET: "I hope the fans will stick behind me and stay patient because everyone on the pitch wants to do well.
"I give 100 per cent every time I go out on the pitch and hopefully it is going to turn round for me in the next couple of games. I am still a Coventry player and will continue to give 100-per-cent no matter what."
"I still think we need more service in the box and maybe that's one of the reasons why I am struggling to get goals right now. We are playing all the football but it is in the final third, like the gaffer has said where we need it.
"Strikers feed off goals and I haven't scored a goal for the last six or seven games so I am a bit disappointed but I am going to carry on working hard and hopefully it will go right for me. I just need a bit of luck.
"It affects your confidence after a while because I was expected to come here and do well. I got off to a decent start but I am disappointed I haven't scored again. But it is going to take time because I am just gelling
with a new team and new players."
John Pleads For Boos To Stop
Leaping to the defence of a player he signed, Peter Reid said: "The boy is a good player but he is just not having the best of times. People pay their money and make their choice so the stick is part and parcel of football.
"Stern isn't the first player to be booed and I am sure he won't be the last. He has just got to show character and get on with the game.
"The only way through it is to keep playing football. In general the fans have been smashing but results have been disappointing in the last six weeks or so and obviously they are showing their frustration. It doesn't help and the same happened to Tim Sherwood not so long ago, but you just have to get on with the job.
"The kid is trying his best and that's the main thing, and he has just got to keep trying. If people see it differently, they see it differently."
