Jamie Jones has said that he is disappointed that he cannot face Preston North End with Coventry City on Saturday February 7th.
Players on loan are not generally allowed to face their parent club and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, Jones said:“Unfortunately I can’t play, the obvious reason being if I go there and play well and keep a clean sheet and Coventry City win the game it looks bad on themselves.
“If I wanted to prove anything to anyone it would be them in that game but it’s out of my hands.
“I’ll be there in the Coventry dressing room and dugout. I’ll say hello to the lads and Simon Grayson but, at the end of the day, I’m a Coventry City player now, not Preston.”
There’s an unwritten rule in football that loan players don’t pass on trade secrets and Jones is happy to respect that while backing his new team all the way.
“In terms of the team shape it’s pretty much common sense so I doubt there’s much I could tell the lads about that anyway,” he said.
“Obviously Preston are going well and I want them to get promoted but I also want Coventry to get up the league just as much. I’m a Coventry player just now and, if anything, I would want Coventry City to get three points that day.”
