Coventry City play Sheffield United tonight at the Ricoh Arena, showing live on Sky TV.
Rarely, if ever has there been so much anxiety among Sky Blues fans about the state of our club and with that sentiment comes frustration and anger that nothing changes for the better under our current owners. For the 9 years and 1 day since Sisu took control, we have seen only failure and mediocrity. The background to tonight's game is that our beloved Coventry City is at its lowest ebb, for most of us within living memory.
A televised match is a great opportunity for protest and one not to be missed. We should be loud, visible and proud in sending the message to "Let Joy know, Sisu you should Sell & Go." The ninth minute should be filled with a cacophony of chanting to reflect "Nine Years of Hell" under Sisu's stewardship. There is a huge TV audience to see and hear us, even if Joy and Tim aren't listening. And don't forget the Christmas Concert by Jimmy's statue from about 6.45pm with a guest appearance from David Goody, performing "Sky Blue Christmas (Sisu Out)" and the Seppala Seven.
Of course, we need to really get behind our young team, they need us more than ever at this time. What all of us want, above all else, is long term success on the field and we desperately need a win tonight, against the odds. So for every anti-Sisu Chant, let's have at least one chorus of our usual songs - Play Up Sky Blues!
Most importantly, I urge all City fans to make sure that we retain the moral high-ground in our struggle with these owners and directors who have let us down so badly. Protest noisily and give the cameras something worthwhile to show the nation, bringing our plight to their attention - but keep it classy, keep it responsible and above all else, KEEP IT LAWFUL.
Eventually, we will prevail in this struggle, but as we approach the 1st Anniversary on Monday of his sad passing from our lives, please let's do it the Jimmy Hill Way. You know what Jimmy would have done .... and would not have done. And let's commemorate his memory with plenty of chants of "Jimmy Hill's Sky Blue Army" and transmit our affection via Sky TV and the radio to Mrs Bryony Hill and Jimmy's other family and friends.
On Friday night, Club Chairman Tim Fisher is scheduled to be studio guest on the Sky Blues Phone-In on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. This is an opportunity for all you would-be Jeremy Paxman's out there to ask challenging questions on the way our club has been run since 14th December 2007 and in his five years as a Director. Let's not give Tim any excuse to divert the conversation into talking about fan behaviour rather than answering the difficult issues that reflect the appalling state of our club.
No ground to call our own, temporary day-hire arrangements at the Ricoh coming to an end in 2018 with no discussions about an extension, the Academy under threat in just six months from now, Ryton Training Ground being listed for housing development, a director in the untenable position as acting manager .... the list is endless and you don't need me to remind you. Just make sure that it is supporters that can set the agenda tomorrow night about Tim Fisher's and Joy Seppala's behaviour .... and not Tim questioning fans' conduct.
Finally, please Santa bring us an early Christmas present of 3 points against Sheffield United.
