Former Coventry City keeper Chris Kirkland has joined Cardiff City on loan until the end of the season.
Kirkland, who came through the City ranks before being sold by Bryan Richardson to Liverpool, has been in and out of the Wigan side due to injury and had been on a short loan at Leicester City earlier in the season.
Kirkland has gone to the Cardiff City Stadium to cover as Tom Heaton who played at Hull yesterday, has a groin strain and number one keeper David Marshall is out for four months with an injury which will require surgery on elbow ligaments.
David Jones told Wales On-Line: "Due to the injuries, we need a top quality keeper and Chris is another good addition to our squad."
