Said the Scot to the CT: "I was thoroughly disappointed with last season because I was a new signing with big expectations and I didn't always live up to them. "Some weeks there were glimpses of what I could do and others when I was not so good, so I went into the holidays thinking that I was going to have a right good summer and look after myself, and come back in shape and have a right good push. "I knew that with the takeover looking to happen that the manager would have money floating around sooner or later and he would be looking to strengthen and that I could find myself coming back with a few new strikers at the club.
"So I knew it was going to be tough and that everyone would be pushing for their place so I am getting through the pre-season feeling really fit and flying again.
"I had a little groin strain ahead of the Shrewsbury game so I sat that one out but had a run out at Northampton and felt that was probably one of the best games I have played in a Coventry jersey.
