Kyler Hits Back

Coventry City striker Kevin Kyle has hit back at those who booed him when he came on during last's night's defeat to West Ham and when he was replaced during the win over Colchester.

Speaking to the CT, the striker whose weekly wage equates to half a year's pay for a good number of City supporters said: Kyle said: "Fans are as fickle as anyone. "Even before the game a certain fan shouted something ridiculous and I thought 'what chance have I got?'

"Something like that can knock you for six before you even get started. Even if I had scored a hat-trick he would still think I was an useless so-and-so, and as the game went on I felt as though I worked my socks off.

"But I don't think I have ever experienced the torrent of abuse that a section of fans behind the goal give me.

"It makes you question why you do it sometimes, but I know why - and that's to shut people like them up.

"I will go out on Saturday, and I hope to God I am starting, because I want to ram it down their throats.

"At the end of the day they pay their money and they are quite entitled to say what they want. "It does affect me but I don't see the point because the word supporter means to support, but sometimes we don't get that.

"I am not saying it is everyone because Coventry have got a lot of really good fans.

"There is a little girl, who is a ball girl, and she said to me after the game, 'Kevin, don't listen to them, they don't know what they are talking about.' "She's right and that brightened up my whole night.

"But it is hard to block out and that's probably the first time that I have felt quite hurt about it because I started the season well."
