Coventry City Ladies eased into the semi-finals of the League Cup with a 4-2 win at
Both sides came out the blocks quite slowly, but it seemed that Coventry were more likely to make the breakthrough as Foxes goalie Ruth Collis was making hard work of the most simple shots. This wasn't to be though as
Coventry were back on level terms just past the half hour mark when Kirsty Robson was quickest to react to a half cleared Kelly-Ann Willis free kick, then eight minutes later the visitors were in the lead through Sinead Wade after she got on the end of a Robson cross.
The third came through Willis from the penalty spot in injury time at the end of the first half after Ashleigh Bingham was called for handball. The Sky Blues winger had to take the penalty twice after the first was ruled out for player encroachment, though she fooled the goalie both times to ensure the teams went into the break at 3-1.
Half an hour into the second half, Leicester were given the opportunity to get a goal back after Coventry captain Natasha Lynch brought down Jodie White in the box, but Steph Cooper's penalty blasted against the bar. Leicester were not to be denied though as only a minute later they got their second through White when she blasted the ball in from close range.
Another piece of Robson-Wade link up play with 10 minutes remaining allowed the latter to score
Manager Stuart Wilson was full of praise for striker Sinead Wade: “She's certainly right up there with the top scorer and it's great to have two flying goalscorers in your team”
