Leicester City have sold their entire allocation of tickets for the first game of the season at Coventry City and have asked for more.

A crowd in excess of 20,000 is expected at the 12:30 kick off for the M69 derby.

Leicester City have sold their entire allocation of 6,000 tickets and have contacted Coventry City to ask if they can have a few more tickets to supply the demand.

A spokesman for Leicester City said, "We have sold our full allocation of tickets which is 5,773, including disabled seating. We have asked for an additional allocation, which is totally at the discretion of Coventry."

"We have been offered an additional 100 to 200 seats, but this would mean that Coventry would have to move the segregation netting. That has to be a decision for their safety officer so we are awaiting his decision."

Last season's highest attendance at the Ricoh Arena last season was 28,124 when Leeds United were the visitors. Leeds sold 6,366 tickets for that game and Leicester are expecting to be close to, or exceed this figure.

Leicester City have been spending big money on adding to their team and manager Sven-Goran Eriksson's summer signings, have markedly increased the expectations of Foxes fans for the coming season.

Lance Tomlyn, of the Leicester City Independent Supporters Association said, "I'm sure if we don't go up it won't be through a lack of support from the Blue Army. The new owners have given us the best possible chance with their investment and now it's down to the players and management to do their bit."

Remember the early kick off for this game at 12:30 on Saturday.
