Leon Clarke On His Way Back

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley could have Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson back for Saturday's game against Crewe Alexandra or the FA Cup Second Round Replay against Hartlepool United.

Clarke has made great strides in recovering from a hip injury and Callum Wilson is free from suspension and speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Pressley said: “Leon is coming along well and in fact he might be fit for our league game against Crewe this weekend.

“But I’d have a decision to make on whether we would take that risk. We wouldn’t want him to suffer a reaction which would keep him out of the replay because even though we’ll have Callum back I don’t really want to go into the game with one up front.

“We didn’t have any senior strikers available at Hartlepool and we came up with a plan that enabled us to get a good result at a very difficult venue.

"But we’ve had a lot of success with our system so I would prefer to be able to go with that formation again and we know that Chris Dagnall and Chris Maguire won’t be eligible again.”
