The City midfielder won man of the match votes from a number of City supporters for his performance against Southampton last Saturday and has said that he is enjoying his football at the moment.
Speaking to the CT, McKenzie said: "I set one up, scored one and had a hand in another against Southampton so I am delighted with that.
"I am just enjoying my football at the moment and feel I am probably getting back to my best. The position is different but I am playing well and if I can keep that going and get the odd goal here and there, then that's good.
Southampton changed their formation three times to try and stop him and the winger commented: "It was good to see and it has happened a couple of times this season," he said. "I go out and do my job and if that happens then its a compliment to me.
"I don't do any homework on the full-backs but I do like to get the ball in to my feet early on and test the water a bit.
"And in the first half, especially, I was enjoying it and trying to run at them as much as possible.
"We are in a nice position and if we can stay in the top 10 that will give us a great platform later in the season.
"There is a great atmosphere and that's because everything is being done properly. "The gaffer knows what he wants and the training is good, so we can't complain."
