Former Coventry City striker Terry Gibson is to have a quintuple heart bypass operation in Thursday.
Gibson who made 98 appearances for City scoring 43 goals before he was sold to Manchester United for a cash plus Alan Brazil deal told the Daily Mail: 'I still play football regularly, five-aside, a bit of veterans. 'Then out of the blue I felt I had indigestion for three weeks. Eventually it got on my nerves so I went to a doctor.
"He put me on the ECG, sent me straight to hospital and I've since been diagnosed as needing a quintuple bypass.
'You're hit with the shock of knowing you are mortal and life takes on a new perspective but the surgeon reassured me it's a routine operation.
"People remember Graeme Souness having bypass surgery and he looks a million dollars."
Gibson has been working with Lawrie Sanchez at Wycombe and Fulham and had also scouted for Bolton and Manchester City.
