Likely Medial Damage For Chris Stokes

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner that the injury to Chris Stokes, appears to be medial ligament damage.

Mowbray said about the defender: “I think the positive thing is it’s not a cruciate knee ligament problem or anything like those injuries that footballers dread.

“He was pretty sure himself that it wasn’t that because he’s experienced one in the past. He was in good spirits this morning and it looks like a little bit of damage to his medial knee ligament which hopefully won’t mean he’s out for too long.

“In my experience of medial ligament injuries as a footballer it can be around four or five weeks, something like that. But that’s without the specialist looking at the scans.

“You get grades of the injury, three being the worst and one being quite mild, so the specialist will read the scan and discuss that with the medical department.

“My main consideration is for Stokesy and that he hasn’t got a nine month injury, so that’s the positive for us but we have to deal without him being available for the next however many weeks it is.”
