Coventry City Directors, businessmen and friends paid tribute to Joe Elliott at a special lunch yesterday.

The lunch held at the Saxon Mill, run by Coventry City Ladies Chairman Dave Singleton, honoured Joe for his work in saving the Sky Blues from administration and getting the club to be taken over by Ray Ranson who also attended along with Gary Hoffman.

As well as his work with CCFC which includes a number of supporter run initiatives, Joe is heavily involved in Coventry Transport Museum as well as other charitable organisations in Coventry. He is also the Coventry Ambassador of the year.

Coventry City Council Chief John McGuigan told the CT: "There is a huge admiration and affection in Coventry for Joe Elliott. "I've never heard anyone say anything negaive about him.

"Whilst everyone associates Joe with the football club, this is just a small part of the contribution he has made to Coventry. He has made a sustained committment to the city."

The lunch also raised £2000 for the NSPCC.
