Former Coventry City Academy Director George Mackie has been appointed Head of Football at the Rugby based Strachan Football Foundation.
Mackie was in charge of City Youth who made it the 1999 and 2000 FA Youth Cup Finals which they lost to West Ham United and Arsenal and is now a scout for Arsenal.
Speaking about the appointment, Gavin Strachan, himself a former Sky Blue said: ” George has great pedigree and has proven record throughout football in developing players, he has the prestigious UEFA Pro licence and shows a great understanding and passion for the game. His knowledge and experience which will benefit our apprentices in their football development not just on the playing side of things but also in their coaching. We welcome George with open arms and we are honoured to have a man of his experience and knowledge involved in the Foundation.”
