Dear Chris Anderson
Just when you think things are changing...
Coventry City Football Club never ceases to amaze me. How on the one hand can the club tweet that you've having a Chinese Takeaway and then sell your best player in the next breath?
It's totally disrespectful to the supporters.
Then it's announced at the 11th hour. Do me a favour. These type of deals don't just happen. This would've been known well before. Fees, medicals, contracts etc all take a while to complete.
The fee rising to £3.5m is well short of Madders true value. Not only that no money has been made available.
I could've accepted £5m if we had then signed a striker and invested in 2 or 3 other players.
I could've understood it if Madders had gone to Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool and we had got cash and 2 of their players on loan.
But Norwich for an initial £2.5m, no other loan players as part of the deal and no permanent signings is a complete joke.
Walsall turned down bids for Tom Bradshaw, we could've done the same.
We desperately need a striker. Tom Nichols at 0.5m with add ons would've been a good deal. An experienced keeper, pacey winger all would've added to the squad and a final promotion push.
Instead, you announce you've finished your takeaway and are ready to announce the 'deals'.
In the context of selling Madders to Norwich it was completely out of order.
If you understood the fans, if you understood what it's like for a club with a proud history to be in league one, if you understood what it's like not to own your own ground, to sell your best players, to have a team of loan players, if you really understood what it means to be a sky blue fan you don't sell Madders to Norwich, you don't disrespect your fans and you make 1 or 2 permanent signings and signal an intent to go for promotion.
You should hang your heads in shame and apologise to the fans.
