Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has said that Gary Madine was set in the dressing room disappointed after his hash of a penalty cost the Sky Blues a badly needed win at Yeovil Town.

Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: “It was a good save and you have to give credit to the goalkeeper who had done his homework from Gary’s penalty against Gillingham last week but Gary’s sitting in there very disappointed because he knows that these are the moments where you win games.

“That was crucial as you could tell from the reaction of their supporters – it actually gave their side a lift and for ten or 15 minutes they had a little bit of momentum but we coped well with that and began to find our rhythm again.

“I’m frustrated because I thought it was a game we should have won, disappointed we didn’t get the positive result I thought we merited.“You could tell that both sides aren’t brimming with confidence just now and you can understand why but there was no lack of endeavour and that’s the one thing you always want to see in your team.

“There were many good aspects for an away performance; we did a lot of the things that we’d talked about and at times we brought them on to us and countered with good speed.“Coming here, getting a point and a clean sheet helps gives us a foundation, something to build from again, and I was really pleased with the mentality of the group – the desire was excellent and I’m very proud of that.

”Goalkeeper Jamie Jones, making his debut after signing on loan from Preston yesterday, looked very solid, Pressley saying: “His handling and decision making was excellent and he made one big save with his feet not long after the penalty. It was a really competent debut and it gave our back-four confidence.

“It was Reda Johnson’s first game in a long while and after 60 minutes he was really struggling but he dug in for us today and I’m really pleased with his performance. He’s a very big player for us – you only need to look at the stats – and he gives us that physicality that we have to have at this level.

“And Jack Finch was absolutely outstanding for an 18-year-old kid – he gives you a dig in midfield because he’s prepared to tackle, head the ball, put his foot in.”
