Marcus Hall is now available for future Coventry City fixtures.

The defender is still coming to terms with the loss of his dad Errol but had a very solid game for City Reserves against Oxford United on Tuesday, playing 87 minutes at left back after taking some advice from his Nan.

“Obviously it has been quite hard for me just lately but it is good for to get back focused on my football, which all my family have been telling me to do, especially my nan," said Marcus to the CT.

“It sounds a bit corny but she’s right when she says it is what my dad would have wanted me to do. "It is difficult to focus and these things take time, but I know I have got to try to do what is right.

“It has been good to see all the lads again because while I was off I tried to do a bit of running to keep my fitness up on my own but it was even worse because everything was going through my head, but when you are out training with the other players it is a lot better because it takes your mind off things for a while.”

Speaking about the game, Hall said: “I got 88 minutes under my belt in the reserves this week and I felt OK to be honest.

"Obviously I was a little bit tired but I am reasonably fit anyway so it wasn’t too hard to come back. It was quite a competitive game which was good for me and obviously nice to keep a clean sheet in a 4-0 win.

“I don’t think I will get any more games between now and the Crystal Palace game but I will train as much as possible.

"We will probably have the weekend off but I will keep ticking over and look forward to next week and the build-up to the next game and see what happens.

“But I will definitely be making myself available to the manager because I would like to be involved.

"It was touch and go whether I was involved in the Derby game but the manager thought I wasn’t quite right because I had only had two really proper training sessions before Friday so looking back it was probably the right thing, not because of the way the game went but mentally how I felt.

"But I definitely want to be involved in the Palace game.”
