King received good applause when his name was read out prior to kick off and got the same when he came on as a 52nd minute substitute for Carl Baker.
In a rare interview, King told Sky Blue Player: "It was a great response from the fans when I came on and I just want to thank them and the club for giving me the opportunity to get my career back on track.
"I just want to repay them with performances and goals on the pitch."
Speaking about the game, King said:"It's been a relief for me to make my debut but obviously it's been disappointing because of the result but it's good that we have a chance to put it right against Doncaster on Tuesday."
