Former Coventry City Chairman Mike McGinnity, for whom there will be a minute's silence tonight before the Sky Blues game with Walsall was not actually a fan of such silences.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph on September 13th 2005, the then City Chairman said as to why he refused a minute's silence for former City manager Noel Cantwell who had led the Sky Blues in Europe and was chosen by Jimmy Hill himself at City's home game with Reading:  "There wasn't a silent tribute because we felt it was best to honour Mr Cantwell's life by running a piece in the programme.

"I disagree that a one-minute silence is the best tribute, they are always subject to people interrupting and by half-time they are forgotten. But a tribute in a match-day programme lasts forever."
