Alex McLeish's move to become the next Aston Villa manager may not be getting universal approval from the Villa support but if the Scot is appointed to replace Gerard Houllier and swoops to sign Scott Dann then Coventry City could benefit.
Sky Sports are reporting that McLeish is making the Birmingham City defender sold by Ray Ranson his number one player to sign and there are rumours of a £12m fee for the centre half who made 47 appearances for City before he went to St Andrews in June 2009.
There are also unconfirmed rumours that City will stand to benefit from a sell on clause but if this is right, exactly how much the club actually will receive if the deal to take Dann to Villa Park were to go through, once those in on his original deal have had their cut, is open to speculation.
