Coventry City are understood to be offering to pay up the contract of Livingston defender James McPake in order to bring him to the Ricoh Arena in January.
The defender is out of contract in June and with City's defensive crisis, the Sky Blues are keen to take McPake, who has signed a pre-contract agreement as cover.
Chris Coleman has already said about bringing McPake in sooner rather than later: "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at our situation and see that we need a bit of help. So, with a bit of luck, if something can be done in the transfer window, then great."
About the defender, Coleman said: "We watched him a lot last year and then he played in the friendly between the clubs and did a very good job. I think he will be good for the Championship."
