McPake Talks Stall

The deal to bring Livingston defender James McPake to the Ricoh Arena has stalled.

Coventry City had hoped to pay a nominal fee to take over the 24 year old's contract but talks have hit snags following the Scottish club demanding more money.

Livingston have not paid their players this month and although money sent from the clubs owners in Italy is due to arrive by New Years Eve, the Almondvale Stadium based club have upped their demands to help tide them over a lean period.

"We have been talking to Livingston but they are asking an unrealistic fee at the moment, particularly when all we are talking about is the last three or four months of the season," said City Chairman Ray Ranson to the CT .

"Chris Coleman would like to bring him in as soon as possible but at the moment all they can see is pound signs from south of the border.

"But we are not going to go back to the bad old days and will do things in our own way, sticking to our plan, particularly in today's economic climate.

"We have already signed the boy on a three-year deal and he wants to come, so it is a bit like owning a house and not being able to live in it."
