Coventry City have turned down a bid from Luton Town boss Mike Newall. The striker is out of contract at the end of the season but is seen as part of Micky Adams plans.

Mike Newall who has watched City reserves a number of times this season said : "We have made an inquiry but unfortunately it is not going to happen."
Micky Adams told the CET: "Gary's contract is up, everyone knows that, and I have to sit down with players at the end of the season and decide whether they are worth giving another contract to, and Gary is the same as everyone else.

"It doesn't take a genius to work out that every player at this football club has got a price on his head and if Luton Town or anyone else care to offer a genuine amount of cash for any of our players then we would have to consider it. "But that will be down to me, nobody else.

"I have to start with a clean slate with the players because it would be unfair to make hasty decisions on players who I haven't seen play.

"That normally comes over a period of five or six weeks but maybe because of the situation we are in, that period might be slightly less. So, for the good of the football club, I have to make hard and fast decisions as we have seen with three players already having left.

"The squad are well aware that if there are people who don't fancy the way I am doing things and don't want to work as hard as they possibly can, they can leave as well. It doesn't make any difference to me."
