Gary McSheffrey has been rewarded with the number ten shirt for his performances last season. The popular Coventry kid who, this time last year was facing an uncertain future said "I wanted the No.10 shirt and it was available so I asked for it and the manager has given it to me.
"So I am happy about that and hopefully I can live up to the shirt and do well this season. I still feel I have to earn the number because I am only 21 but I do feel wanted and very much part of the squad this year, which wasn't the case last year.
"I think you have to earn your status with each new season and I have just got to do it all again this time round.
"The gaffer has pulled everyone aside and spoken to the players both individually and collectively, so he is good that way. He fills me with confidence and it is a no fear attitude that he has got and that seems to rub off on the lads, so hopefully we will see that this season."
