Coventry City manager Andy Thorn admitting that he was having a glass of wine tonight, will probably be toasting Gary McSheffrey after the Coventry born player scored one and set up the second to give City a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Speaking to the Press Association after the match, Thorn said: "Gary McSheffrey showed two real pieces of quality in the final third and that it is what we have been lacking. Gary has Premier League quality, we know that.
"That's not him finished for the season, we need him to go right through to the very end for us.
"Nobody gets relegated in November and I just felt that if we kept going we'd have that bit of quality and it would come through.
"I am pleased that has happened but it's just a start for us. There is a lot of hard work ahead to make the second half of the season brighter.
"I never relaxed until I got down the tunnel but I felt we were comfortable even at 1-0. But you know you are never safe with that scoreline so it was nice to get the second and we got our just desserts today.
"We've been playing well, barring one or two, and there has never been a lack of confidence. We just haven't been putting teams to bed."
