The Coventry born striker was sold to Brum for £2.325m and has missed the last three months with a knee injury.
However, after successful treatment in an East London clinic, McSheffrey avoided having to have an operation and make his first appearance for Birmingham City Reserves in a specially arranged midweek friendly against Chesterfield.
McSheffrey played the whole ninety minutes and scored in a 4-1 victory at Wast Hills and has been added to the Birmingham squad for today's game.
