Coventry City face not having Gary McSheffrey for the rest of the season.
The midfielder injured his left knee when he was tackled at Portsmouth by Dave Kitson who stood on his foot causing McSheffrey to jarr his knee in a bid to free his foot. Thankfully, a scan has revealed there is no major ligament damage.
“It could be a three week job and if he doesn’t play again this season it will be a blow for Gary and the team because he has been terrific and a big part of what we have achieved,” said Andy Thorn,
“I know Gary is happy with the results of the scan which showed it is not that bad and he was certainly smiling at the game on Saturday.
“Ligaments are a tricky one and sometimes a break is easier to come back from but we will look after him and play it day by day.
“Gary is experienced enough to know his own body and he’ll be ready to play when he says and it wouldn’t surprise me if he came to me and said he was ready before the season is out.
“I have been really impressed with his hunger and desire, just as I have the rest of the boys who all want to do so well.”
