Coventry City's Gary McSheffrey has been praising Lee Carsley and Michael Doyle.
McSheffrey, who was delighted with the reception given to him by the City support against Portsmouth on Saturday told the CT: "My return was made a lot easier because I was playing in front of Lee Carsley, my captain at Birmingham last season, and Michael Doyle, my old mate from my first spell at Coventry.
"We all know Lee’s quality because he was virtually an ever-present for Everton for six years and it takes a special player to achieve that.
"I know that some City fans were worried that he might be getting on a bit, but he’s a model professional who has always looked after himself and having missed a lot of last season through injury he was feeling fresh and raring to go.
"He’s so calm and composed, he breaks up opposition attacks and when he’s got possession he plays easy balls to the front men and the wide players and let’s us get on with it.
If his first couple of games are anything to go by, he’s got plenty of years left in him.
I’ve always thought that Doyler is very under-estimated as a player so I’m obviously delighted to be playing in the same team as him again.
Up until a couple of weeks ago I don’t think he expected to be in the starting 11 but he’s the sort of player who demands to be picked because he never gives you less than 100 per cent."
