Coventry City boss Andy Thorn joked that Gary McSheffrey should have had four goals against Peterborough United in a reserve game yesterday.
McSheffrey scored a hat-trick and missed a penalty whilst Callum Wilson scored twice in a 5-1 win for the Sky Blues.
Speaking to the CT, Thorn who had Shaun Jeffers and Clive Platt up front rather than Cody McDonald who trained with the first team said: “It was nice to see Sheffs get a few goals and he had a good run out as well but they all did well and showed a good attitude as well.
“He actually scored a penalty and missed one so he should have had four! But he looked sharp.”
Speaking about Callum Wilson's brace, Thorn said to the CT's Andy Turner: “Callum Wilson got two goals so I was pleased with him, particularly given that Peterborough had Joe Lewis in goal and the big lad they’ve got on loan from Celtic at centre-half, Josh Thompson, and a young lad from Man United up front.
“They had five first teamers playing but we were very good, so it was an excellent workout.”
