David Meyler has said that he want to start playing matches after joining Coventry City on loan.
The 29 year old from Cork, joined City on loan from Reading yesterday and told the club's press office this morning: "I want to play football and I’ve been given an opportunity to come here and play.
"I got a phone call yesterday and I made the decision that this is the right step for me to take."
The former Republic Of ireland international, who is best known for his time at Hull City, had been in the "bomb squad" at Reading and added: "I hold no grudges at Reading, I’m here at Coventry now and I want to start playing and winning games."
He was in a bomb squad with former Coventry City striker Marc McNulty who has gone to Hibernian on loan and said about the Scot: "Marc spoke highly of all the people here, not just the players and the manager but everyone.
I want to get the most of the lads around me and try and get this team up the table.
I’ve been fortunate to captain the clubs I’ve been at and my country, so if I can bring leadership here I hope I can do that.
I’ve missed that buzz of preparing for the games on Saturday and I’m looking forward to the weekend."
