Former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud, who is still without a club since his contract with the Sky Blues ended last sumer, has had a trial with Southampton.
Last month he had a trial with near neighbours and fierce rivals Portsmouth, but it has recently emerged that Mifsud had a trial with The Saints before having his trial with Pompey. It is not known if either club will offer him a contract.
As Mifsud is without a club and is therefore a free agent, he is free to join any club at any time outside the transfer periods.
