Former Coventry City striker Michael Mifsud could be on his way to play for Chicago Fire.
The 29 year old Malta captain, who went from Coventry City hero to zero because of his transfer antics has not had a permanent club since his contract with the Sky Blues expired in 2009.
A transfer fee with Bristol City was agreed for the diminutive striker, but Bristol City's manager Gary Johnson questioned Mifsud's commitment believing that the player was using Bristol as a stop gap club in the hope of a move to a so called bigger club.
After a short spell back at Coventry he moved to Barnsley on loan. When his contract with Coventry expired he left the club only to find it difficult to find a new club.
Eventually he moved back to his native Malta where he played a season with Valletta, but at the end of the 2009/10 season he still could not find another club.
Chicago Fire of the MSL are actively looking for an experienced striker and are thought to be seriously considering Mifsud.
