Reaction to the news that Coventry City are speaking to Colchester United boss Aidy Boothroyd has been mixed to say the least from reading various message boards and social network sites postings.
After a season whereby the Sky Blues slumped to a 19th place finish in the Championship table, forcing the club with little option but to dispense with the services of manager Chris Coleman who had failed to make any real progress on the field, the Sky Blues need a new manager that the long suffering supporters can get behind.
This is the perfect opportunity to get someone in who can galvanise the City support and encourage supporters to buy season tickets and get the crowds to the 22,000 a game that the Sky Blues need to break even.
To do this, a new manager needs a personality, a good knowledge of the game with a proven track record of getting the best out of the players available.
Now only the Board and Associate Directors have seen all those who have applied but the names that are being reported as being spoken to by Mr Ranson, don't appear to strike many of the City support as men who can fully fill the criteria above.
Chairman Ray Ranson will have his own idea as to who he wants as a manager and any new appointment will be someone that he feels he can work with but if someone can be found who can unite the City support and fill the Ricoh then maybe our years without a top six finish could be over.
