Former Coventry City defender James McPake, who spent much of his time at the Sky Blues out injured, will undergo more surgery tomorrow.
McPake, now at Dundee, fractured his kneecap duiring the win against Dundee United on Saturday and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.
In a statement, Dundee have said: "We would like to acknowledge the professionalism from both sets of players during the derby match on Saturday who immediately helped when it was clear James was in significant pain.
"James is a vital part of Dundee Football Club and we wish him a speedy recovery.
"Following the surgery, we will have a clearer picture of timescales for rehab."
