Andy Morrell has said that he has some serious thinking to do during the next few weeks regarding his future at Coventry City. "My season has been OK, I suppose," Morrell said to the CET, "but I am a bit disappointed with not having so many starts.
"I have made 39 appearances, which is a fair few, although 20-odd have been from the bench, but I have been involved throughout the season and not had a long-term injury.
"I have only had 12 starts which is probably the most disappointing thing because I would have wanted to start a lot more. "I have got another year left because I had a clause in my contract that if I played 15 games I got a second year, so that has kicked in.
"But I would have thought I will sit down with the manager, as I did last year, and have a meeting about what his thoughts are and hopefully I will see where I stand then. "And if he doesn't want me then I will have to make plans and see what I can come up with. "From my point of view, obviously I want to be playing games.
Morrell Has Some Thinking To Do
"The gaffer told me last summer to back myself to play a lot of games this year and have a bit of confidence in myself. "I thought I did that and he said he would give me the chance to play up front, which I don't think I have had that many opportunities to do.
"It is difficult playing right midfield one week and play up front in the reserves and then back in the midfield, so I have not really played the position that I believe I am best in and in the role I was brought here to start with.
"But if you are not going to play up front you have to try to adapt yourself to get a game somehow. "So I need to talk to the manager and see what he says because I am 31 now and I have got to be playing really.
"I am keeping an open mind at the moment. I have just had my little boy so I will be concentrating on him for a while and take my mind off things. "It has been a long season for us and maybe speak to my agent and see what is happening."
