Former Coventry City striker Andy Morrell is being chased by another of his former clubs Wrexham.
Wrexham boss Dean Saunders yesterday confirmed his interest in signing a League 2 striker, widely believed to be the 35 year old Morrell.
Morrell signed for Coventry City in 2003 from Wrexham, where he stayed until 2006, playing 98 times for the Sky Blues and scored 17 goals. He left Coventry in 2006 to join Blackpool and in 208 he joined his current club Bury.
Dean Saunders admitted to the local newspaper The Leader of the uphill task he faces in tempting Morrell back to The Racecourse, saying, "I am hoping to bring in a striker who has been playing in League Two and I know would do brilliant for us,"
"He is a goal scorer and is out of contract at his club. This is the player I have been zooming in on all the summer. The difficulty for me is trying to persuade him to come and play in the Conference."
However, Covsupport News Service understands that Morrell would prefer to continue in the Football League and is set to remain at Bury.
