Micky Adams has said he wants to look at Andy Morrell playing up front during City's pre-season tour of Ibiza,Ireland and the friendlies at Rushden and Port Vale.

The striker signed from Wrexham told the CET: I am pleased to be offered a new contract and hopefully it is a starting point. "It is just a matter of having a think about where I want to be next season. I have been playing out of position most of the season and I have had a chat with the manager and expressed my concerns.

"He has told me he wants to have a look at me up front during pre-season because he has never seen me play there. So my position is a major factor for me.

"I don't mind playing out of position to help the team and I would rather be playing out of position than not at all, but recently I haven't even been playing.

"A lot of clubs are in the same boat and I understand that situation. I don't know if I will get any offers from anyone else yet and I will look at everything and sit down and talk things through with my wife and come to a decision.

"Obviously the length of contract is also an issue and you can look at it two ways. I don't really want to be in this situation again next year so a two-year deal would obviously suit me better.

"But if I have a storming season it could put me in a strong position. The flip side of that, of course, is I could get injured. But as I said before, I have a starting point with the club and hopefully something can be sorted out."
