Clinton Morrison, Coventry City's top striker with 11 goals so far this season, has admitted his team have missed the presences of midfielder Sammy Clingan.
Clingan has missed the last two games because of a calf injury and it is no coincidence that the Sky Blues only managed to get one point out of the six on offer.
In the 23 games that Clingan has played so far this season, Coventry have won 38 points, compared to only 12 points from the 14 games in which Clingan did not figure.
Morrison reflected on the home loss to Cardiff last Tuesday saying, “I thought we looked tired at stages, although I thought we looked the better team in the first-half and it was just a shame we conceded before half-time because if we had kept things tighter we would have had a good chance."
“Cardiff came at us in the second-half when they were the better team and we dropped deeper and deeper and they nicked a goal that shouldn’t have been, but that’s how it goes.”
Morrison spoke about the absence of Clingan saying, “You are always going to miss a player like Sammy. Even though Gary Deegan and Aron Gunnarsson played well, they are two similar players and Sammy puts his foot on the ball and can pick a pass out to the wingers and front men, so any team will miss a player like him.”
Clingan is still an injury doubt for Sunday's televised derby game at Leicester
