Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that he does not have a problem with his players being caught offside.
Mowbray said about the subject to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner after Ryan Kent had a goal against Chesterfield ruled out for offside: “It’s a case of fine lines and I’d have to say I thought Ryan Kent’s goal was on-side, and having watched it back several times I know it was, which is frustrating, of course, but it’s the same in any game, particularly at the top end in the Premier League where it’s very fine margins.
“It’s easy to stop it in slow motion and see that when he kicks it he’s on-side, as I did with Ryan’s goal – although he wasn’t just level, he was a yard or two on-side.
"But it’s the way we play, trying to make forward passes onto forward runs to players who can run in behind teams, and you’re going to be off-side sometimes with the enthusiasm for it rather than being too fast.
“It’s just a question of timing, holding yourself back, and a great example of that was the Millwall goal when Ruben Lameiras held his pass to Adam Armstrong who had run off-side and then re-adjusted.
“I have never had a problem with players being off-side if they had the intention of running in behind to score a goal. It’s just a question of timing.”
