Coventry City's manager Tony Mowbray has said that he will take a point at Bradford City.
The home side's hoofball tactics made them difficult to play against but City stood up to a side that went eight games without conceding a goal and came away with a good point from a 0-0 draw.
“People might think that’s strange when they think of results like our 4-0 win at Millwall,” Mowbray said to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, “but I thought we looked like a top-of-the-table side tonight against a team who are going well themselves and were right up for this game.
“You could tell that from reading some of their manager’s press comments this week and this is always very tough place to come to. They have their big centre-forward and they play long diagonals into him so it’s a big test for our defenders but Ben Turner and Aaron Martin did their job very well and I always thought we were in control of the football match.
“John Fleck’s injury was a concern for me but Gael Bigirimana came in and played really well.
“I thought we did enough to win the game but I’ll take a point at Bradford on a night when the crowd were very loud.
"It’s a pretty impressive arena with a stand built for the Premier League and very close to the pitch making for a great atmosphere.
“It would have been a great 1-0 win and we almost managed that when Adam Armstrong hit the post but it wasn’t to be.
"We made a couple of changes because Saturday’s match against Gillingham was very intensive and the players had to expend a huge amount of effort.
"That’s what a squad is for – I don’t think the changes weakened our team at all and we had players like Ryan Kent and Jim O’Brien sitting on the bench ready to make an impact in the last half hour.
“Ryan certainly did that – it’s an unbelievable sight watching him in full flow. Have you ever seen a player travel so fast with the ball and he forced the keeper to pull off a really good save.
“Jim brings a level of experience on the ball that calms the game down and as Bradford tired near the end we created a couple of good chances.
“We’re still top of the table but that doesn’t matter at this stage. As I keep saying, it’s all about accumulating points and building confidence, but I’ve just told them that this was as good an away result as we’ve had this season because the level of control showed me that we are still improving.”
