Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that new City MD Chris Anderson might have his own opinion on team matters etc but at the end end of the day, he will listen to his own staff.
Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner about the American who joined City last week: “I know he’s written a book; I’ve not read it but I know it’s about stats.”
“Bottom line, his remit will be what his remit is given to him by the owner and the board.
“I also know that no-one can keep their fingers out of football. Every executive I have ever worked with wants to tell you about your team, who’s good, who’s bad. And I’m sure Chris will be the same.
“It doesn’t matter because we’ve all got opinions. There are people phone up the radio station every week and tell you who is good and bad, asking why’s he picking him or doing that and, with total respect, the executives are just the same.
“They don’t affect, ultimately, what I do but I understand that I have to win football matches and if you don’t win enough you lose your job. But don’t let someone else pick the team for you because it’s your neck on the line at the end of the day.
“I listen to my own staff, Mark Venus, Jamie Clapham, Oggy and their own opinions. If Chris wants to offer his opinion on football I have got no problem with that at all but it might not influence what I do.”
