Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray is continuing to meet Premier League clubs to talk about possible players for next season.

The City boss told the Coventry Telegraph: “I have had several meetings with Premier League clubs and talking about young players for next year.

“Agents are on the phone practically every ten minutes and some names can crop up that you quite like and we’ll have discussions and try to put things in place. It never stops and will continue throughout June.

“Players out of contract rarely accept their first offer. They use that to go somewhere else to see if they can get more so some leave it quite late.

“It depends where you are in the financial pecking order as to what you can get. Add to that whether they think the club is of the big enough prestige level, are they are going to play in front of a big crowd every week and at a club with higher expectations.

“All these things come into play and hopefully the fact that we play a certain brand of football that might help their careers move forward.

“But what we do know is that come kick-off next season hopefully we’ll have a team capable of competing at the top end of this league and with the same aspirations to get out of it.”
