Coventry City are in advanced talks with an experienced defender, rumoured to be the 30 year old former Nottingham Forest and Celtic  central defender Kelvin Wilson.

Wilson is a free agent after leaving his home town club Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

City boss Tony Mowbray is keen to add experience to his youthfull defensive trio of  Jordan Willis, Darragh Leahy and Cian Harries, who have been impressive during the pre-season games.

Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph, “We need more experience, more men. We can talk about how well the young players are doing but this is a man’s league.

“I’ve got no problem with playing them now and again when required and they’ve shown me that I can trust them when I need them but we need some more experienced players who can get the job done week in, week out.”
